Aixtron's revenue in 2013 decreased 20% year-on-year to 182.9 million euros; EBIT increased from -132.3 million euros to 95.7 million euros; equipment orders increased by 1% year-on-year to 133.2 million euros.
Aixtron pointed out that although the capacity utilization rate of LED chip manufacturers in Taiwan and South Korea has risen sharply, the demand for production equipment has been low in the whole year. As of December 31, 2013, the backlog of equipment backlog was 59.6 million euros, down 25% year-on-year.
Aixtron said that due to the very low visibility of orders, it is currently unable to provide this year's revenue and earnings estimates. Aixtron estimates that revenue this year will be comparable to last year, but the amount of loss will be further narrowed.
