Atmel? Corporation, a leader in microcontrollers and touch technology solutions, announces the next-generation product line, the maXTouchTM T Series, which supports the largest 23-inch touchscreen for mobile phones, tablets, Ultrabooks, laptops and Applications such as integrated computers.

The first device in the series, the mXT2952T, is the world's first ultra-low-power single-chip device that supports up to 15.6-inch Windows® 8 certified touchscreens and is optimized to support touchscreens with a thickness of 0.4mm.

The new T-Series offers an innovative adaptive sensing architecture with mutual capacitance and self-capacitance to optimize its performance. The maXTouch T Series Automated Control selects the best sensing architecture for seamless switching for higher performance and lower power consumption. Mutual capacitance enables true multi-touch tracking, while self-capacitance provides hover functionality including idle power, moisture resistance, glove tracking, and detection of fingers or objects that are not in contact with the touch screen. The new maXTouch T Series uses the industry's first capacitive touch dual analog and digital filtering architecture to increase noise immunity to provide the best signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and power consumption. New features in the maXTouch T Series provide better responsiveness and a more intuitive user interface with additional features that allow users to pre-select icons, letters, links and other images without having to physically touch the screen.

With the growing popularity of touch-screen active styluses, the maXTouch T-Series also supports Atmel's maXStylusTM, a solution that requires no additional sensor layers for thinner stacks and lower bill of materials (BOM) costs. Compared to other capacitive active styluses on the market today, the award-winning maXStylus offers Window 8 compatible solutions with better touch performance, lower power consumption and lower overall system cost.

To better support Ultrabook and notebook touch sensors, the mXT2952T has specific circuitry to replace sensor materials with indium tin oxide (ITO), such as Atmel's XSense flexible touch sensor, which allows system design People build more innovative designs, with faster operating speeds, lower power, edgeless curved touch screens, and even flexible touch screens.
