To promote low-carbon Lighting, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology assisted the international NGO “The Climate Group†to officially launch the “LightSavers†LED outdoor lighting promotion program on April 28.
Participation in the program includes more than 10 cities including Adelaide, Guiyang, Hong Kong, Kolkata, London, New York, Tianjin and Toronto. Evaluate the effectiveness of LED and intelligent lighting systems in reducing CO2 emissions and energy conservation, as well as improving road lighting and safety by comparing test results from different applications in participating cities.
The pilot projects will be conducted at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong International Airport. The climate organization and the above three institutions will cooperate to test five LED lamps within 6~12 months. The preliminary test results will be published in Q1 2011.
