Asustek plans to seize one-tenth of the non-iPad tablet market

ASUS revealed at an investor conference held recently that it plans to ship 1.5-200 million tablet computers this year, occupying about 10% of the market for tablet computers outside the Apple iPad.

In January of this year, Asustek released its first tablet Eee Slate EP121, 12.1-inch screen, Intel Core i5 processor, and Windows 7 operating system. In the next six months, Asustek will also launch a number of new flat-panel machines:

- April, Eee Pad Transformer EP101, 10.1-inch, Tegra 2 processor, Android 3.0 system;

- May, Eee Pad Slider EP102, 10.1 inch, Tegra 2 processor, Android 3.0 system;

- June, Eee Pad MeMo EP71, 7-inch, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Android 3.0 system, support 3G.

In addition to the tablet, ASUS's 2011 business focus is on entering the developing market, with Brazil as its first stop, followed by India.

Shipments of other products are expected to reach 5.4 million units in the first quarter of 2011, a 3.6% decrease from the previous quarter and 22.7 million units in the year, a year-on-year increase of 5.0%; notebooks in the first quarter were 2.8 million units, a decrease of 9.7% from the previous quarter, and 14 million in the full year The ministry, an increase of 28.4% year-on-year; netbooks in the first quarter of 1.4 million, a decrease of 6.7% compared to the previous quarter, the annual 6 million, unchanged from 2010.
