OLED general lighting is expected to reach US$1.19 billion in 2016

On June 25, the American consulting company ElectroniCast released a report on the trend of OLED in the general lighting market. In the report, it is estimated that the global consumption value of general lighting OLED will reach US$34.8 million in 2012, and is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 104% before 2016 and reach US$1.19 billion in 2016. From 2016 to 2021, the average annual growth rate is reduced to 28%. In 2021, the global consumption value of general lighting OLEDs will reach US$4.1 billion.

In 2011, people spent a lot of money on OLED R&D, prototypes and sample production. The main reason for burning money is that the price of OLED is too high. With the continuous opening of the market and the intensification of competition, it is expected that OLED prices will be significantly reduced. Since the growth of sales volume is not as fast as the rate of price decline, the overall consumer value in 2012 may be the same as in 2011.

ElectroniCast estimates that the application of OLED panel lights is very wide and even beyond people's current imagination, but at this stage lighting is its main purpose. It is expected that the growth of OLED panel lamps will exceed bulb lamps.
