In the Zigbee network, there are three different types of devices, namely: Coordinator, Router, and End Device.
The functional characteristics of the coordinator
1. Choose a channel and PAN ID to form a network
2. Allow routing and terminal nodes to join this network
3. Route data in the network
4. It must be powered regularly and cannot enter sleep mode
5. Data can be reserved for sleeping terminal nodes and acquired after they wake up.
The functional characteristics of the router
1. Before sending and receiving data, you must first join a zigbee network
2. After joining the network, allow routing and terminal nodes to join
3. After joining the network, you can route the data in the network
4. It must be powered regularly and cannot enter sleep mode
5. Data can be reserved for sleeping terminal nodes and acquired after they wake up.
Functional characteristics of terminal nodes
1. Before sending and receiving data, you must first join a zigbee network
2. Other devices cannot be allowed to join
3. Data must be sent and received through its parent node, and data in the network cannot be routed
4. It can be powered by battery and enter sleep mode
After the coordinator selects the channel and PAN ID to form a network, its function will be equivalent to a router. The coordinator or router allows other devices to join the network and route data for it.
After a terminal node joins the network through a coordinator or a certain router, it becomes its "child node"; the corresponding router or coordinator becomes the "parent node". Since the terminal node can enter the sleep mode, its parent node is obliged to keep the data sent by other nodes for it until it wakes up and takes this data away.
