Previous news has confirmed that next year's Atom processors will have the Cherry Trail and Willow Trail, both of which will use the 14nm process. The difference is somewhat similar to Intel Core's Tick-Tock, Cherry Trail is an upgraded version of the Bay Trail, and Wiilow The Trail is an upgraded version of the architecture. Both use the Airmont and Goldmont architectures, and the Cherry Trail has a frequency of up to 2.7 GHz.
In addition, the GPU architecture of Cherry Trail and Willow Trail will also be upgraded. The current Bay Trail processor uses the Intel HD Graphics architecture, specifically the Gen7 HD 4000 series used by Ivy Bridge (of course, the EU unit must be streamlined). Cherry Trail's GPU will be based on next year's Broadwell GPU core. The latter's GPU performance is 40% higher than that of Haswell, and Haswell's GPU is 20% higher than Ivy Bridge, so Cherry Trail's GPU performance will increase significantly.
With the further development of SoC processors, GPU performance is becoming more and more important, especially on mobile processors. The integrated GPU performance of Cherry Trail should not be disappointing. WCCFTech believes that its integrated image core performance is close to that of AMD. APU, but there is no specific level of APU.
Atom on the Cherry Trail platform is expected to be released in Q3 next year.
