Another person accused the European Union of monopoly on Android

October 20 news, according to foreign reports, sources revealed on Monday, Deutsche Telekom will formally appeal to the European Anti-Monopoly Organization European Commission next month, accusing Google Android operating system suspected monopoly.

For a long time, Deutsche Telekom has accused the US technology companies of ruling the way Europeans access Internet services. Google has always been one of the key companies that Deutsche Telekom has focused on. More than a year ago, Deutsche Telekom had complained to the European Commission that Google's online search practices infringed European antitrust laws. According to sources, Deutsche Telekom, which holds the American company’s fourth-largest mobile operator T-Mobile’s US controlling stake, is ready to complain to the European Commission in early November, accusing the Android operating system of being suspected of monopoly.

According to reports, the focus of complaints from Deutsche Telekom to the European Commission will be whether Google's use of its Android operating system is unfairly promoted as Google Maps and other Google-owned products rather than promoting competitors' products.

Deutsche Telekom will provide relevant information and evidence in the complaint to prove that Google has abused Android's market dominance. This data will include the data that Deutsche Telekom's tens of millions of mobile users access to Internet services on a regular basis, which can effectively help European Commission officials decide whether to formally indict Google.

National antitrust agencies have been paying close attention to Google’s Android operating system. Market research company Gartner's statistics show that Android currently accounts for more than 80% of the global smartphone operating system market. Many large technology companies, including Nokia and Oracle, as well as startups such as Aptoide, an online app store in Portugal, have long complained to the European Commission asking for an investigation of the Android operating system’s alleged monopoly.

Sources revealed in September that the US Federal Trade Commission had begun a secret investigation into Google’s unfair use of the Android operating system to help the company’s other mobile services. According to a complaint filed against Google in 2013, the European Commission has initiated an official investigation into whether the Android operating system is monopolized. In addition, the Russian anti-monopoly agency has asked Google to stop unfairly bundling its own mobile services with Android before November 18, otherwise it will face fines.

Google spokesman Al Verney declined to comment on Deutsche Telekom’s lawsuit against the company. However, the spokesperson said that the Android operating system is facing increasing competition pressure in the global smart phone market. He said, "Android operating system is a free operating system, anyone can use this product for free. Some Android devices use Google's services, some did not use." As of now, Deutsche Telekom spokesperson Andreas Andreas Middel declined to comment on this report. He only stated that "the company is currently involved in the investigation of the European Commission."

The European Commission’s investigation into whether or not Google’s Internet services are monopolized continues. Sources said that European anti-trust commissioner Margrethe Vestager will decide next year whether Google's online services have monopolistic behavior.
