Regardless of the sound effects of virtual reality, how realistic the visual effects can be presented, we have to admit that how to simulate a more direct tactile experience is the most indispensable and difficult problem in using VR technology to gain immersion. For today's technology, I am afraid that there is no better chance of experiencing the “unparalleled immersion” brought about by virtual reality than the first-person shooting game.

According to the verge report, two years ago, a start-up company called Striker VR demonstrated an early prototype of a tactile recoil system with the goal of making fake guns have a more realistic fire feedback experience in virtual reality.

Two years later, the company returned to the public with a Super VR pistol called Infinity v1. This super pistol can simulate the recoil of different weapons through tactile feedback system, including some future weapons such as railguns and so on. Let you feel the thrill of shooting with a "live shot."

In fact, the company revealed the design of Infinity pistols in April. Recently, they finally delivered prototypes.

It is understood that Infinity v1 can not only provide "single shot", "continuous shooting", "explosive" and "automatic firing" shooting modes, and can even simulate the cutting of zombie chainsaw, allowing you to experience the zombie in the game. The thrill in a second. In addition, Infinity v1 can also simulate firing patterns and shooting sensation of future sci-fi guns such as rail guns and guns in the first person shooting mode. This is undoubtedly a huge attraction for gun lovers.

In this prototype presentation, Striker VR also stated that Infinity v1 now supports both PhaseSpace and Sixense STEM tracking systems. In the future, it will also include Valve's Lighthouse Whole House Tracking System, Oculus Constellation, and PlayStation Move. stand by. Currently, the Infinity prototype only uses a temporary external tracker. However, the company plans to provide different tracking system support for the device in the future so that various VR companies can choose the tracking system that best suits them.

Although Striker VR is still demonstrating a prototype rather than a product already on sale, Striker VR said that the developer version of the Infinity v1 touch-sensitive gun may be released in the fourth quarter of this year, and the product will include a touch-sensitive gun. , SDK Developer Kit and a set of SDK tactile control presets, and there will be more partners to join them. According to the company, after the product is launched, its delivery scope will gradually expand to all over the world. However, Striker VR did not disclose the consumer version's launch date, but it stated that it plans to release an SDK to screen partners before the end of the year and hints at a step toward the consumer version.

In recent years, with the constant fiery in the field of VR, more and more manufacturers have joined it and want to share it. In addition to designing or developing mainstream head-display devices, the product simulation touch-sensitive gun developed by Striker VR at the present stage will undoubtedly bring a clear flow to VR applications in the game field.
